Privacy
Privacy choices for Unrot.
Unrot does not require an account. The website and Android app store practice data locally. Online Sudoku uses temporary server data, and Android analytics and diagnostics remain off unless you explicitly choose to share them.

Website practice data
Game type, completion time, error count, difficulty or grid size, completion date, and the current state of an unfinished Sudoku puzzle are stored locally. Unrot cannot see or recover this data. Clearing browser storage removes it, and it does not automatically sync between devices.
Site analytics
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use Unrot through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay so we can improve the site. Microsoft may collect website usage data using cookies and other tracking technologies. Learn more in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Android app practice data
The Android app stores completed sessions, daily progress, preferences, personal bests, and unfinished Sudoku puzzles in private app storage. Android cloud backup is disabled. You can delete training history and drafts from the app's Settings screen, or remove all app data by uninstalling Unrot.
Optional Android app analytics
Microsoft Clarity is not initialized and Firebase Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring collection remains disabled until you choose “Share usage analytics.” If enabled, Clarity collects app and device information, app and operating-system versions, display and screen size, country or region, masked app layouts, taps and gestures, and app errors or exceptions. Microsoft processes this data to provide session replay, heatmaps, diagnostics, and product analytics. Firebase collects crash logs, stack traces, app and device information, app lifecycle and screen-rendering metrics, and network timing for diagnostics and performance monitoring. This choice is separate from advertising privacy choices. Declining analytics does not limit any app feature, and you can change the choice at any time in Settings. Learn more in Firebase's privacy and security documentation.
Online Sudoku matches
Online Sudoku uses the Unrot service to create and join anonymous matches. The service processes the match code, a hash of the anonymous player token, the puzzle, cell entries, progress, connection status, timestamps, and IP address for short-term rate limiting. Opponents receive only a correctness mask and aggregate progress, not entered digits or the solution. Finished match data is normally deleted after 24 hours. Production connections are encrypted.
Android app advertising
The Today screen can show a banner provided by Google AdMob. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may process IP address, app interactions, diagnostic information, and device or advertising identifiers to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. Where required, Google's consent form is shown before an ad is requested. Available choices can be revisited from the app's Settings screen under Ad privacy choices. Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Retention and security
Analytics and diagnostic data is encrypted in transit. Clarity session playback data is normally retained for 30 days. Aggregated interaction data may be retained for up to 9 months under Microsoft's retention policy. Firebase diagnostic data follows Google's retention controls and the Unrot Firebase project settings. Unrot does not sell personal data.
Your controls and contact
Website users can clear browser storage and restrict or clear analytics cookies. Android users can disable analytics and delete local training data in Settings. Disabling analytics stops future capture and deletes unsent crash reports on the device; data already received by Microsoft or Google remains subject to their retention policies. For privacy questions or analytics deletion requests, email contact@unrot.net.
Children
Unrot is a general-audience practice tool and is not directed to children under 13.
