About Unrot
A focus tool that wants you to leave.
Unrot is a free collection of finite attention, memory, and reasoning exercises. It is designed to help you replace a few minutes of passive scrolling with one deliberate task—and then stop.
Why the site exists
Many digital products benefit when a session has no natural end. Unrot takes the opposite product position: every exercise has a visible goal, the result describes the task you just completed, and the interface does not lead into an infinite feed. There are no ads, account gates, punitive streaks, or global rankings.
The games are not presented as a cure for distraction. They provide a small transition from automatic consumption to active engagement. A short visual search, memory task, or logic puzzle can give attention a clear object without pretending to replace sleep, movement, medical care, or the conditions needed for sustained work.
Who publishes Unrot
The public publisher is Unrot. Articles are written and maintained under the shared Unrot Editorial Team byline because the site does not currently publish individual contributor profiles or claim named expert reviewers. That limitation is stated plainly rather than filled with invented credentials.
The editorial policy explains how topics, sources, reviews, updates, and corrections are handled. Questions, factual corrections, and accessibility reports can be sent to contact@unrot.net.
How exercises are selected
Each exercise needs a simple rule, a finite stopping point, and a result that can be explained without a proprietary “brain score.” The current set covers visual search, working memory, attention switching, multiple-object tracking, pattern reconstruction, and deliberate reasoning. The methodology page describes what each task records and the limits on interpreting those results.
Data and business model
No account or database is required. Game progress is stored locally in the browser on the device you use. The website currently has no advertising, affiliate links, paid rankings, or sponsored editorial placements. Limited analytics are disclosed on the privacy page; those analytics do not turn a task result into a public profile.
What Unrot is not
Unrot is not a medical service, diagnostic test, treatment program, or measure of intelligence. A score can change with familiarity, screen size, fatigue, interruptions, and input method. Use the site as a quiet practice environment, not as evidence about a health condition or your general cognitive ability.
