A practical guide to Schulte tables

A Schulte table is a grid of shuffled numbers. The task is simple: find them in ascending order as steadily and accurately as possible.

How to begin

Start with 3×3 or 4×4. Move to 5×5 when you can complete smaller grids without rushing. Keep the grid comfortable in your field of view and try not to chase every number with large head movements.

What to measure

Completion time and errors are transparent task metrics. Compare recent attempts with your own previous attempts under similar conditions. They should not be interpreted as an IQ score, medical assessment, or universal measure of attention.

How much is enough?

Two or three deliberate rounds are enough for a short session. Stop if your eyes feel strained or you find yourself clicking randomly.
